ResiAX for resident-led communities

A clearer way to organise, represent and involve your community.

For resident-led associations, panels, committees and community groups connected to homes, housing and neighbourhoods — TRAs, Residents' Associations, Tenant Associations, Leaseholder Associations, Resident Panels, Scrutiny Groups and similar resident-led structures.

ResiAX: Community helps TRAs and resident-led groups organise their work, understand what matters to the people they represent and make it easier for more residents to take part — whether that's joining a committee, responding to a quick vote or simply keeping up with something that affects their home. It provides a clearer management base for the formal side of resident representation, without expecting every resident to engage in the same way.

Take part in the way that works for you.

You shouldn't have to join a committee or attend every meeting to have a voice in what affects your home and community.

Residents have different lifestyles, caring responsibilities, working patterns, capacity, confidence and accessibility needs. Some want to help run their TRA. Others only want to receive important updates, vote on a local priority, answer an occasional poll, comment on an issue affecting their building, or know what happened afterwards. All of those are valid forms of resident engagement.

Make participation easier

Residents should be able to engage at the level that works for their life — and participation does not need to begin with formal membership.

Where appropriate, a TRA or resident group can invite views from the wider community it represents — not only the people already on its membership list.

A simple example

A TRA wants to decide which three estate priorities to raise with the landlord. Rather than requiring another meeting:

  1. 1The committee prepares a short list
  2. 2A quick vote is opened
  3. 3Existing members can respond
  4. 4Other eligible residents in the represented area can also have their say
  5. 5The committee sees the aggregate priorities
  6. 6The agreed priorities form part of the formal discussion with the landlord

This makes involvement possible for somebody who has five minutes — not only somebody who can attend a two-hour evening meeting.

Make representation easier

Help Chairs and committees understand what matters across the community without relying on endless meetings, fragmented conversations or whoever happens to speak the loudest.

Collective issues

Hear from more of the community, with less administration.

It helps representatives demonstrate what residents were asked, what people said, what was raised, how the landlord or public body responded — and what happened next:

Keep the formal record — without replacing community life

ResiAX is not intended to replace your Facebook group, WhatsApp group, Nextdoor community, email list or face-to-face conversations. Those spaces often work very well for informal discussion and connection. ResiAX is the management and evidence base around them.

It helps turn activity from different channels into a clearer, more durable record when something needs to become:

An agreed community priorityA formal consultation responseAn action from a meetingCorrespondence with a landlordA collective issueEvidence for scrutinyCommunication with a council or government body

Keep the conversation where it works. Bring the important decisions, actions and evidence together in ResiAX.

This is about easier administration and stronger governance — not forcing communities onto another social network.

Engagement on residents' terms

Participation is a spectrum, not a binary member/non-member state. These are engagement preferences — not subscription levels.

Keep me informed

Essential information relevant to my home or area.

Ask me when it matters

Important local updates and occasional requests for views.

I want to participate

Polls, consultations, meetings and opportunities to influence decisions.

I want to help lead

Committee membership, representation and group governance.

Different levels of involvement. The same right to be heard.

Membership shouldn't be the gate to having a voice

Formal membership can matter for governance. It shouldn't be the only way a resident can be heard.

Membership

Belonging formally to the organisation.

Representation

Living within the community or area the group represents.

Participation

Responding to a particular poll, consultation or issue.

Leadership

Holding a committee or representative role.

A consultation or poll may be members-only, or open to eligible residents across the represented area.

Taking part in a poll doesn't automatically make somebody a member — and residents who aren't members won't automatically receive unsolicited messages. Their communication preferences and relationship with the group remain theirs.

Community and Support Circle — two different things

TRA / Community

  • Community priorities
  • Polls and consultation
  • Meetings and scrutiny
  • Collective issues and group decisions
  • Landlord and community dialogue

Support Circle

  • An individual resident chooses a specific person to help with their repair, complaint or housing issue
  • Their evidence and correspondence
  • Only when they choose to bring you in
How Support Circle works →

Represent the community collectively. Support an individual resident only when they choose to bring you in.

Membership of a TRA or community group does not provide blanket access to private resident records.

Work with housing providers without losing your independence

ResiAX helps a resident-led organisation turn community discussion into something structured enough to use with landlords, housing associations, managing agents, councils and public bodies — agreed priorities, consultation results, meeting actions, collective concerns, formal correspondence, responses and outcomes.

Relationships establish context; they do not grant access.

The group remains independent.

Run or support a TRA or resident-led community group? We'd like to hear from you.

We're speaking with TRA Chairs, Leaseholder Association representatives, committee members and other resident leaders as we develop ResiAX: Community. We'd especially like to understand how you currently gather residents' views, keep people involved, manage meetings and actions, and turn informal community conversations into something you can use formally with landlords or public bodies.

Your details are used only to arrange this conversation and shape ResiAX: Community. See our Privacy Policy.

ResiAX: Community is in active development and we're shaping it with the groups we speak to. Some of the capabilities described here — such as provider connections, collective case workflows and named representation — are being introduced in stages rather than production-live today.
